SECOND PRIZE WINNER
SWEDEN
Stanislaw Zoladz
In the Drizzle 1998
watercolour 57 x 76 cm
Exhibition Catalogue No. 217

Stanislaw Zoladz was born in 1952 and lives in Stockholm. The artist comments: ‘I wanted to show a little piece of untouched Swedish nature, which to me symbolises a positive and successful development of society. It is a great mission Sweden has accomplished that it can hand over a country with a high standard of living and a fantastic untouched nature to coming generations’. In this exquisite watercolour he obsessively observes and records the many aspects which make the ordinary extraordinary: the moisture filled air and overcast light; the reflection of the sky in the seawater; the view of the stones and pebbles through the water; the wetness of the rocks and boulders, their beautiful colours and patination; and the natural union of air, water, and rock.
